Last Sunday’s wine dinner at the Green Valley Grill was a very nice
affair indeed. The wines we poured were so well received, that I
decided to pour four of them at this weekend’s FREE tasting. A nice mix
of styles. All tasty and solid values. Johnsie (not a typo) Bauguess,
from American Premium Beverage, will be pouring the wines.

Meet the Winemaker FREE Tasting - Calluna Vineyards
Wednesday, February 8th 5:00 - 7:00
This
is the time of the year that winemakers venture out to meet with their
distributors and promote their wines face to face. Next Wednesday, you
will have a chance to meet David Jeffery, the owner and winemaker of
Calluna Vineyards. Located in the Chalk Hill AVA in Sonoma, Calluna is a
new winery that focuses on making red wines which have the strength of
great Bordeaux and attributes of the Sonoma terroir. Wines with the
intensity, balance and longevity inherent in Bordeaux wines, and the
additional richness and roundness typical of the best Napa and Sonoma
wines.
We will have several of David’s wines open for you to try and buy . . .

Corks for CrossRoads 2012 - Mega Wine (and some beer) Tasting
If you were one of the 250+ people who attended the inaugural Corks
for CrossRoads Mega Wine Tasting last spring, you already know about the
great wines (60 to sample), great times, and great cause that this
event support.
Well, it is time for gear up for Corks for
CrossRoads 2. Save the date, tell you friends and get your tickets
early. I hope we can sell this out well in advance.

This
event is a fundraiser for CrossRoads: Sexual Assault Response &
Resource Center. The CrossRoads mission is to reduce sexual violence
and its effects through confidential counseling, advocacy, education,
and community awareness for adults and children. CrossRoads serves all
of Alamance county and you can learn more about this important
organization by visiting their website at http://crossroadscares.org
About the Event
Corks for Crossroads 2
will be the area's premier wine (and beer) tasting event of 2012. You
will be able to sample 60 wines from all over the world. As close as
Grove Winery in Gibsonville, to as far away as Australia. There will be
ten tasting tables with six wines on each table. Each table will
featuring a different wine region. In addition to all this wine, you
can also sample a dozen craft beers. We will feed you too! There will
be a tasty buffet with heavy hors d'oeuvres. NOTE: We will also have
two craft beer table that will be pouring samples of a dozen delicious
brews.
To help with the fundraising, there will be a
limited number of silent auction items and every wine being sampled will
be on sale (order at the event and pick up after.) For every bottle
sold at the event, WBWC will donate $4 to CrossRoads.
This
year, we will have two really fun door prize raffles. One will be for
one bottle of each wine at the event. That’s sixty different wines.
The other raffle will be for one bottle of each beer in my store, which
should be about 120 different craft beers. Tickets for each raffle are
$5, or 5 for $20.
Attire
I
will be wearing my tuxedo (so I will be easy to spot in the crowd), but
you don't need to be that formal. Cocktail party attire will do.
How Much
Individual
tickets will be $45 and this is a steal folks. Better yet, you can
take a$20 tax deduction for each ticket you purchase. Sorry, you must
be 21 to attend this event.

get tickets. We only will be selling 350 tickets to this event and I
expect that these will be gone by early March. I will have tickets in
the store by January 20th.
